About Sibongile
Sibongile Day & Night Care Centre was founded from a place of compassion, determination, and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by children living with cerebral palsy (CP) and their families.
In January 2005, our founder, Nomasango Xabanisa, opened her home to children with cerebral palsy after recognising the urgent need for specialised care and support within her community. Her inspiration came from her own personal journey as the mother of her daughter, Sibongile, who was living with cerebral palsy. Through her own experiences, Nomasango understood the daily struggles faced by families caring for children with disabilities and realised that there were no local organisations dedicated to meeting their unique needs.
In June 2005, Sibongile Day & Night Care Centre was officially registered as a non-profit organisation. What began as a small initiative in one family’s home has since grown into a trusted centre that provides specialised care, support, and opportunities for children with disabilities and their families.
Today, Sibongile Day & Night Care Centre remains committed to improving the quality of life of every child in our care by providing a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment. We believe that every child deserves dignity, love, access to quality care, and the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their abilities.
Our work continues to be guided by the compassion, resilience, and vision that inspired our founder more than two decades ago, ensuring that children with disabilities receive the care, respect, and support they deserve
Our Mission
Sibongile’s mission is to break through cultural barriers and superstitions surrounding children with disabilities in South African townships. We aim to provide specialized care and support for disabled children, raising awareness in the community about disabilities and promoting their inclusion. Through dedicated day and night care centers, we strive to improve the physical and emotional well-being of these children, empowering them to thrive and be accepted as valuable members of society. Our vision is to expand our services, educate parents, and create a network of care centers nationwide, ensuring that every child receives the love, attention, and resources they need to flourish. Join us in bringing these hidden children into the light, where they can experience joy, growth, and the embrace of God’s love.
